Its founder and partner Frank A. Boffa, CPA has 25 years experience in the payroll business. Beginning in 1979, and throughout the 1980’s, Mr. Boffa processed payrolls in-house for his growing base of accounting clients. By 1992 he had helped develop three separate payroll service bureau programs, and in 1994 he and a partner acquired a local competitor, thereby doubling the client base. This new company developed into a regional payroll company, tripling in size to over 1000 clients by the mid 1990’s. Differences over company strategy and a target market led Mr. Boffa to sell all his interest, and form PAYMEDIA – a new company dedicated to serving the special needs of small and middle-market employers.
Another relationship which fostered over the years was with Mr. Allan Valvano, General Manager and Managing Partner. Associated with Mr. Boffa for over 20 years and initially hired as General Manager in order to implement a long-term direction for PAYMEDIA while guiding and managing the internal staff and functional operations of the business. In 2003 Mr. Valvano bought out two silent partners to become an equal owner as well as managing partner of PAYMEDIA. His experience in working with very large and smaller companies with a broad technical background and significant management experience allowed PAYEDIA the ability to offer many specialized technical functions that so many larger payroll providers are not capable or willing to provide.
Building a company and ensuring its success means surrounding yourself with key personnel who are equally committed to the philosophies of a business. PAYMEDIA continues to expand its team by adding employees that are like-minded with experience in many areas.
Mrs. Paula Balugas, Director of Tax Department and Customer Implementations, began working for Mr. Boffa in 1991, has over 12 years of payroll experience, and managed over 200 accounts at Mr. Boffa’s previous company. As PAYMEDIA has grown allowed her to transition into her new role in the area of taxes. Her experience was a perfect fit since the implementation of new clients and the proper tax configuration are critical to timely and successful filings.
Mr. Andrew Smith, Senior Account Executive, has over 20 years of extensive background in the manufacturing and retail industries, project management, technology and client support services. Along with his sales responsibilities he provides ongoing customer liaison and service-level support focusing his efforts primarily in the tri-state region.
Mrs. Mary Jo Carreira, Director of Operations, previously worked with Mr. Boffa beginning in 1994. She was again reunited with Mrs. Balugas and Mr. Boffa when PAYMEDIA was formed. Her experience in understanding customer needs has allowed her the ability to support many technology based service offerings.
Mr. Ronald Valvano, Account Executive, has a well rounded background as a technical trainer of adult education with more than 20 years of Information Technology experience where he was recognized for meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Ron’s concentration for sales and relationship support is primarily based out of the Central and Southern New Jersey regions.
